Observation

Every year 150,000 people are hospitalized in France for severe head trauma (following road accidents, public highway accidents, falls or assaults). Out of 8,000 serious head trauma patients: 34% recover, 33% have more or less serious after-effects, 4% remain in a chronic vegetative state, 26% die.

This is a national scourge and a silent epidemic. Head trauma is an invisible handicap and poses a real public health problem. Out of 8,000 head trauma victims, nearly 300 will present with cognitive after-effects and will remain very dependent and will not be able to return to work. They will be the responsibility of their families. The consequences are therefore very serious on individual, family, social and professional levels.
